Head, Merchant Portfolio Management

Position Summary

The Head, Merchant Portfolio Management is responsible for formulating effective merchant business strategy actions to improve merchant portfolio and profitability by increasing active merchant payment transactions, deposits, and OD facilities. Identify & pioneer potential new categories of merchant priority on top of the traditional merchant categories and build stronger relationship partners. Drive a culture of high performance and empowerment through effective people management activities. Foster a diverse, inclusive, and open environment and drive teamwork and collaboration within and outside of the team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop a merchant acquisition and partnership strategy to achieve the desired campaigns or programs as well as the business targets and goals.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships and engagement with key merchants, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Manage to operate cost-effectively via a periodic and systematic review of all budget lines as well as the various cost-saving initiatives.
  • Manage the budget effectively to ensure a healthy and proper expenditure; and a balanced approach in supporting the growth of top-line and managing relationships.
  • Ensure strict compliance to all the standards required for merchant business such as audit, compliance to Card Payment Data and Security, Prince Bank Merchant Fraud Prevention standards, Regulators, and meeting higher acceptable rating without compromising standards established which impede performance level.
  • Proactively explore innovative solutions and ideas in collaboration with technology, products, sales, digital banking, marketing, and other stakeholders to create new and breakthrough merchants and partnerships business streams.
  • Explore innovation and implement process reengineering within the Branch sales team to existing merchants or Business customers to enable customer onboarding and management, maximize staff productivity, and minimize operational processes and risks.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with Technology and Digital Banking stakeholders to ensure necessary functionalities are available in the merchants and partnerships-related systems and they are maintained as well as the resources to support the merchants and partners
  • Coordinate and cooperate with Finance and Centralized Operations to ensure all financial reconciliations are completed promptly.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in the relevant field of Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, or any relevant field.
  • Ability to Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Years experience in banking, fintech, or relevant.
  • Sound awareness and knowledge about the use of data analytics and customer behavior
  • Senior management professional who has extensive experience in Merchant business
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a related field (preferably in Merchant, cards, payments, business) in a team lead capacity.
  • Highly detailed, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Display strong leadership and managerial qualities.
  • A good communication and Interpersonal skills, motivator, and team player.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with creative thinking and being innovative in search of a competitive edge.
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility/ accountability to deliver the desired results.
  • Keen on networking and expanding good business relationships with the customer – both internal and external.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent in English proficiency both verbal and written, and Chinese is a plus.
  • Proactive, flexible, and a good team player.
  • Honesty, commitment, and hard work.
